Polymer powder bed fusion (SLS), photopolymers, and TPMS lattices
Chunze Yan is Professor at South China University of Technology and one of China's leading academic figures in polymer additive manufacturing. He spent his early career at the University of Exeter Centre for Additive Layer Manufacturing, where he co-authored the highly-cited paper "Evaluations of cellular lattice structures manufactured using selective laser melting" (yan-2014-tpms-lattice) — establishing the use of TPMS gyroid and Schwartz-P lattices in LPBF and showing they obey the Gibson-Ashby power-law over a wide density range. His group develops new SLS polymers and composites, including carbon-fibre and glass-fibre reinforced PA12, PEEK powders, and shape-memory polymers, as well as photopolymer formulations for SLA and DLP. He has trained a generation of Chinese polymer-AM researchers and his lattice-structure work has been adopted into automotive and biomedical implant design pipelines.
