AM measurement and metrology, polymer AM, and EBM process development
Luca Iuliano is Full Professor at Politecnico di Torino and founder of the Integrated Additive Manufacturing centre (IAM3D), one of Italy's leading academic AM groups. His research spans polymer powder-bed fusion (SLS, MJF), electron beam melting of titanium aluminides and nickel superalloys, and dimensional and surface metrology of AM parts. He has been a long-running collaborator in Italian and European AM standardisation through CEN and UNI working groups, and he serves on the editorial boards of Rapid Prototyping Journal and the Journal of Materials Processing Technology. His group's work on EBM Ti-6Al-4V process windows, surface characterisation of LPBF parts via optical and X-ray techniques, and benchmark artefacts for AM qualification has been widely adopted in Italian industry. Iuliano has been instrumental in PoliTo's growth into a hub for industry-academia AM collaboration in northern Italy's aerospace cluster.
