AM standards development, qualification, and certification
Mohsen Seifi is Director of Global Additive Manufacturing Programs at ASTM International, where he leads the organisation's strategy across the ASTM F42 technical committee, the ASTM Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE), and the joint ISO/ASTM 52900-series consensus standards. Before joining ASTM he completed a PhD at Case Western Reserve University with John J. Lewandowski, focused on mechanical property variability and qualification frameworks for metal AM. He is the lead author of "Overview of Materials Qualification Needs for Metal Additive Manufacturing" (JOM, 2016), which established the three-tier (material / process / part) AM qualification framework now mirrored in ASTM F42 and SAE AMS 7000-series specifications. Seifi has been instrumental in building the AM CoE's industry-academic-government training and certification programmes covering operators, inspectors, and engineers worldwide.
