Powder characterisation and mechanical testing of AM metals
Reza A. Mirshams is Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas, where his research spans nanoindentation, fracture mechanics, and the mechanical characterisation of AM and conventionally processed metals. His AM-related work focuses on indentation-based local mechanical property mapping across heterogeneous LPBF microstructures, fatigue and fracture toughness of AM stainless and titanium alloys, and powder feedstock characterisation linked to as-built defect populations. He has supervised numerous PhD theses on small-scale mechanical testing applied to AM materials qualification and contributes to ASTM and ASM working groups on AM material specifications. His broader career includes work at NASA and several industrial laboratories on advanced structural alloys.
