LPBF of NiTi shape-memory and functional alloys
Sasan Dadbakhsh is Associate Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where his group focuses on additive manufacturing of NiTi shape-memory alloys and other functional metals. He completed his PhD at the University of Manchester before postdoctoral work at KU Leuven under Jean-Pierre Kruth, where he co-authored some of the earliest systematic studies on LPBF of in-situ alloys and on the transformation behaviour of NiTi processed by LPBF. His widely-cited work on the effect of laser parameters on Ni content (via evaporation), transformation temperatures, and superelastic recovery in LPBF NiTi underpins much of the contemporary literature in this area. At KTH he leads research on LPBF of NiTi-based composites, magnetic shape-memory alloys, and aluminium alloys, with strong industrial collaboration through Swedish AM consortia. He serves on programme committees for several major AM conferences.
